MAHIWAGA 2025

MAHIWAGA: Kultura’t Sining ng Bansa, Kwento’y Hatid sa Bawat Tala is a cultural and educational outreach project held on April 13, 2025, at Montalban Heights National High School in Rodriguez City, Rizal. Organized to inspire appreciation for Filipino traditions among the youth, the event featured a locally inspired storybook and interactive art activities that promoted national pride, creativity, and cultural awareness. By immersing participants in Filipino folklore and traditional art forms, MAHIWAGA created a vibrant space for self-expression and storytelling. The project not only celebrated the richness of Philippine heritage but also demonstrated how art can be a powerful medium for education and identity-building among children.

Story of Us: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future

Phase 1 of The Story of Us: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future was officially launched through a commemorative video posted on April 6, 2025, marking the 20th anniversary of UST Volunteers for UNICEF. This milestone pays tribute to two decades of unwavering competence, commitment, and compassion in advocating for children’s rights. Through heartfelt storytelling and nostalgic highlights, the video revisits UVU’s legacy and sets the tone for a year-long celebration of its impact. As the first installment of this special anniversary project, the video calls on both alumni and current members to honor the organization's past while looking forward to a future of continued service for the children.

Advocacy Summit

On March 29, 2025, UST Volunteers for UNICEF proudly participated in the Advocacy Summit 2025 held at The Loft, Areté, in collaboration with Barefoot Philippines. The summit served as a vibrant hub for passionate advocates across sectors to engage in meaningful conversations, idea exchange, and collaborative initiatives aimed at creating social impact. With speakers ranging from human rights defenders to climate champions, the event highlighted the power of unified action in addressing pressing societal issues. Through this experience, UVU members deepened their advocacy knowledge, expanded their networks, and reignited their commitment to championing children's rights and broader causes that shape a just and compassionate society.

Strike a Pot

On March 30, 2025, UST Volunteers for UNICEF launched the first phase of Strike a Pot: A Runway to Sustainable Fashion at the Binangonan Recreational and Conference Center. This heartwarming initiative empowers children with special needs by providing them a platform to explore their creativity through pottery and sustainable fashion design. Featuring earth-friendly materials and innovative concepts, the project blends artistry with environmental advocacy, all while championing inclusivity. With its second phase scheduled for April 27, 2025, the project continues to celebrate the limitless potential of children and the beauty of eco-conscious expression.

VLT

On March 19, 2025, UST Volunteers for UNICEF, in partnership with the Office for Student Affairs, held VLT: Volunteerism and Hunger at the UST Central Laboratory Auditorium. From 1:00 to 5:00 PM, participants engaged in powerful discussions on the intersection of volunteerism and the global fight against hunger. Featuring inspiring talks from advocates Ms. Anna Kamille Miranda and Mr. Ian Curt Sarmiento, RND, the event highlighted how small acts of service can lead to lasting change. Attendees left with renewed drive and a deeper understanding of how their advocacy can support the journey toward a hunger-free future.
