The initiative “Waste Lang, Is Eat Right?: Addressing Food Waste with Every Bite” promotes social responsibility and environmental care within our partnered community, empowering residents, especially children, to address environmental issues and food insecurity. By creatively repurposing food waste into nutritious dishes, the project uniquely tackles both healthy lifestyles and environmental degradation. This holistic approach not only aligns with global aspirations for sustainable development but also significantly contributes to the overall well-being of our partnering community.
This project aims to provide information on how to utilize their food scraps sustainably in our partnered community, where many households, notably those with children, struggle to afford nutritious meals. Through this project, we want to listen to the plight of the Filipino people and ensure they are still receiving proper nutritional diets while also solving the growing number of food waste in the country. We aim to reduce waste, encourage sustainable practices, and contribute to inexpensive, healthy diets for the community by creatively repurposing food leftovers, considering that the methane and chemicals produced during decomposition contribute to environmental degradation.
